NCFC News

Nicholtown Child and Family Collaborative (NCFC) has been awarded $100,000 from Greenville Women Giving of Greenville, SC. Greenville Women Giving is a 500+ member philanthropic women's collective giving organization created as a special initiative of the Community Foundation of Greenville in 2006. Since then, GWG has awarded 152 grants to 92 organizations totaling over $8.5 million.

Nicholtown Child and Family Collaborative was selected as a recipient of the grant based on our demonstrated commitment to serving mothers and fathers in Greenville, SC. NCFC provides two programs Nurturing Skills for Young Parents and Parent Cafe. Nurturing Skills for Young Parents program seeks to reduce abuse and neglect rates; increase parents' sense of self-worth, personal empowerment, empathy, bonding, and attachment; increase the use of alternative strategies to harsh and abusive disciplinary practices; and increase parents’ knowledge of age-appropriate practices. The Parent Café Program teaches parents and their children how to address community issues, learn new skills and discover resources to support their family and improve their lives. Parents completing the Nurturing Parent Skills program are invited to attend the Parent Cafe program for continued support.

We are thrilled to receive this grant from Greenville Women Giving. This funding will allow us to continue supporting families in Greenville. We are grateful for the support and recognition of our work in Greenville.

Our Parent Café parents have shared that they very much enjoy the opportunity to meet twice monthly with other Nicholtown families to learn and support each other in the difficult (yet rewarding!) parenting journey.

We keep moving forward...
